Chapter 1: Matter in Our Surroundings**
1️⃣ Matter क्या है?
जो स्थान घेरता है और द्रव्यमान रखता है → Matter
2️⃣ Matter की विशेषताएँ (Characteristics of Particles of Matter)
Particles of matter:
- बहुत छोटे होते हैं
- लगातार गति में रहते हैं
- एक-दूसरे के बीच आकर्षण बल होता है
- कणों के बीच खाली स्थान (inter-particle space) होता है
3️⃣ Matter की अवस्थाएँ (States of Matter)
1. Solid (ठोस)
- निश्चित आकार व आयतन
- कणों में आकर्षण बल अधिक
- कणों की गति न्यूनतम
2. Liquid (द्रव)
- निश्चित आयतन, पर आकार नहीं
- कणों की गति solid से अधिक
- कमी attraction force
3. Gas (गैस)
- न आकार, न आयतन
- कणों की गति सबसे अधिक
- सबसे कम attraction force
4️⃣ Diffusion (प्रसरण)
दो पदार्थों का अपने कणों के मिश्रण द्वारा फैलना → Diffusion
- गैसों में सबसे तेज
- ठोस में सबसे धीमा
5️⃣ Matter के States बदलने के कारण
States बदलने के पीछे दो बातें होती हैं:
(1) Temperature Effect (गर्मी/ठंड)
- Heat बढ़े → particles तेजी से हिलते हैं → attraction कम → solid → liquid → gas
- Heat घटे → गैस → liquid → solid
(2) Pressure Effect
- Pressure बढ़ाने से गैस → liquid
(उदाहरण: LPG, CNG)

Melting (Fusion)
Solid → Liquid
Melting Point: Ice = 0°C
Freezing
Liquid → Solid
Boiling
Liquid → Gas
Boiling Point of Water = 100°C
Latent Heat
Temperature बदले बिना state बदलने में ऊर्जा
- Latent heat of fusion
- Latent heat of vaporization
Sublimation
Solid → Gas (direct)
उदाहरण: Camphor, Naphthalene
Evaporation
Liquid → Gas (without heating)
7️⃣ Evaporation पर प्रभाव डालने वाले कारक
- Surface area ↑ → Evaporation ↑
- Temperature ↑ → Evaporation ↑
- Wind speed ↑ → Evaporation ↑
- Humidity ↓ → Evaporation ↑
Example: पसीना वाष्पित होता है → शरीर ठंडा होता है (cooling effect)

Plasma
- आयनित गैस
- TV, tube lights, stars
BEC
- बहुत कम तापमान पर बनने वाली अवस्था
